Falling into Place

Even nerds dig all the colorful leaves and crisp air currents blowing round.  While warming up to a nice Peppermint Mocha and some free Mexican coffee, we piled up and discussed the following:

1. Hosting - since the GoDaddy meltdown a couple weeks ago, some of us are getting gunshy on the registrar leaders.  Some have opted for MediaTemple for registering but hear-tell they are quite stinky in the hosting department.
2. RDIO - Greg says we should check this out.  It's supposed to be like Spotify but with a much cooler interface.
3. Skitch is a cool app that lets you take quick clips of stuff on your laptop and then mark them up with super easy tools. It also saves nicely in EverNote.
4. A tip for iPhone users: stop your location services or it will eat your battery.
5. A tip for all cell phone folks: check your bills, there seems to be a lot of fraudelent charges these days.
6. People seem to be less Apple zealots and are open to other brand names.  For example: Greg found a Visio Windows laptop that looks a lot like a Mac Air but for less than $600.  He digs it, but the mousepad sucks.
7. Randy met his first Microsoft zealot who didn't work for Microsoft.  Weird, what is this world coming to...

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time, a lonely programmer named DewEye found himself a corporate job with other like minded humans.  He began coding.  It was bliss.  Then he needed stimulants and found his way to Coffee Haus in Arlington, Texas.

Coffee, humans, cool flooring and wireless internet changed DewEye's life.  He drank, coded, walked around and discovered that there were cooler places on the planet than his cubicle.  "I must only work in places like this," he told himself.  Soon, he did.

DewEye learned that every other non-programmer human only talked about non-technical things; weather, music, movies, wine, wives and children.  For a few years, DewEye enjoyed the chit-chat but longed for more - then came the revelation!

"I could start my own coffee shop and create NerdPile."  Jives Coffee Lounge, LLC was born and soon following the NerdPile began to meet every other Friday morning.  Life is great and DewEye lived happily ever after...T H E    E N D
